A total of 317 Greater Adjutant Stork bird were spotted in and around areas of Guwahati city in Assam.
As per reports an NGO named Early Birds working for conservation in the field of forest and wildlife, released the figure .
A survey on the Greater Adjutant Stork bird was conducted by the NGO on Sunday in guwahati and its nearby areas.
According to the survey, the NGO counted the population of the rare Greater Adjutant Stork for the 20th consecutive year in & around Guwahati.
A total of Of the total 317 Greater Adjutant Stork bird were spotted out of which 273 were spotted in the Boragson dumping area in Guwahati, Assam.
According to the NGO, where birds were seen in Guwahati 10 or 12 years ago, not a single could be traced in those areas at present .
As per rough estimation, Early Birds and other organizations’ latest combined census figure is only 1974 Greater Adjutant Storks throughout Assam . If more efforts are put in to count birds, including in Kaziranga, it may reach 3000, the press release stated.
