According to latest reports, Th Basanta Kumar, the education minister for Manipur has announced the hiring of 1000 teachers for Manipur’s public schools and apart from recruiting 1000 teachers, a new transfer and posting system which would be based on gender and residential address of teachers would be introduced soon.
Education Minister Th Basantakumar made this announcement while speaking at the 40th Tashar Katamnao Long Education cum Raising Day held at Kathing Memorial Ground, Tashar village, Ukhrul district today.
The event was held on the theme ‘Our Dream: Prosperity in Education’. During the event ,Basantakumar stated that the Government schools are now facing the issue of shortage of teachers . Even though around 700 teachers retire every year, but even though no teachers were recruited for a very long time.
Taking to Twitter, the education minister wrote, “Happy to have attended the 40th TKL Education cum Raising Day observation program on the theme: Our Dream – Prosperity in Education at Tashar Village, Ukhrul. Distributed prizes to meritorious students as part of the program. @narendramodi @NBirenSingh @blsanthosh.”
The minister said that the government is working to address the issue of teacher’s shortage in Manipur’s public schools.
He also added that looking at the State’s financial condition, the vacant posts of teachers cannot be fulfilled together at one time and at least 1000 teachers would be recruited soon .
According to further reports , he said that ,70 per cent of the Government school teachers comprise of women,
According to the Education Minister , the female teachers as well as senior male teachers had to go through many issues after they are posted in far off places.
After getting posted in far off places, the teachers pressurize the authorities to get them posted in nearby places.
The Education Minister further said that ,in order to address all these problems, a new transfer and posting system based on gender, age and residential address would be introduced soon.
