Severe cold wave and heavy fog continues to haunt residents of Delhi. According to an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) ,the heavy fog has reduced the visibility levels to 25 metres at the Palam observatory, near the IGI Airport in Delhi, and the Safdarjung observatory, Delhi’s primary weather station.
As per the order issued on January 8, by the Directorate of Education, private schools in Delhi will remain closed till January 15, 2023.
“In continuation to the DOE’s (Directorate of Education) earlier circular, all private schools of Delhi are advised to remain close till January 15, 2023, in the wake of cold wave prevailing in Delhi,” the circular read.
Besides the dense fog had delayed multiple flights and trains triggering chaos at airports and railway stations. According to officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, around 15 flights were delayed and one flight was diverted because of bad weather. A few flights were also diverted due to low visibility at the India’s biggest international airport in the national capital.
