Miss Universe 2023 has kick-started in New Orleans. Miss Universe 2022 preliminary competition witnessed the participation of beauty queens from 86 countries walking down the ramp in national costumes.
However Miss Thailand Anna Sueangam-Iam stood out exclusively in her evening gown of choice during the 71st MISS UNIVERSE Preliminary Competition at the New Orleans Ernst N. Morial Convention Center.
What seemed like a usual shimmery outfit turned out to be something unexpectedly impressive upon closer inspection. It was instead a recycled dress made and crafted from interconnected pull-tabs of drink cans .
The dress of the Thailand Beauty Queen was a tribute to her parents : her father, a garbage collector, and her mother, a street sweeper. According to reports the design was designed by MANIRAT.
Some have even dubbed her as “garbage beauty queen,”
But still Miss Universe Thailand who completely stood out in her upcycled dress says, “it never stopped her from shining bright as a precious gem.”
Called the “Hidden Precious Diamond Dress,” it also has Swarovski diamonds among the pull-tabs.
Miss Universe Thailand defines her significant characteristic and presents and inspirational quote, “You must not get stuck with murky surroundings you were born into, but do believe you have the power to change your own life for the better,”
The pageant Queen has already won hearts on social media with this beautiful upcycled outfit which is not just spectacular but also holds a special meaning .
The 71st Miss Universe pageant will be held on January 15 at 9 a.m. (Manila time) at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in Louisiana.
