A week-long Faculty Development Program successfully culminated here today with enthusiastic participation by faculty members at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM). The program was organized by the AIU-USTM Academic and Administrative Development Centre at the NKC Auditorium of the university.
The resource person of the FDP was Mr Anjan Chowdhuri, Empanelled Trainer of Dibrugarh University and Assam Administrative Staff College. The valedictory session today was graced by Prof Ramesh Ch Deka, Vice Chancellor Cotton University, Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor USTM, Dr RK Sharma, Advisor USTM and Dr BK Das, Pro Vice Chancellor USTM, apart from others.
Addressing the faculty members, Prof Ramesh Ch Deka said that classroom delivery of a teacher is very essential. “Blackboard teaching cannot be replaced by online classes”, he added. He said that teachers need to update themselves with time to make his or her classes interesting for students.
The FDP reinforced various strategic ways of enhanced classroom delivery with multiple applicable theories in classroom pedagogy. It was designed metaphorically with various games, activities, storytelling, and experience-sharing pertinent to the modules executed.
Towards the end of the session, several faculty members shared their experience and learning from the FDP and stated that they have learned new skills of teaching which they are going to apply in their respective classrooms. Earlier, Dr Monalisa B Deka presented a brief report of the week-long programme. The valedictory session of the week-long FTP ended with a vote of thanks extended by Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM.
