BJP led NDA announces Draupadi for the next president of India. The announcement was made by BJP national Chief JP Nandda after the parliamentary meeting “ Nandda said” for the first time, preference has been given to women tribal candidate. We announce Draupadi Murmu as NDA’S candidate for the upcoming presidential election”
Who is Draupadi Murmu?
:Born in June 20, 1958, hailing from Odisha Mayurhanj District, and a member of BJP. She started her career as Assistant teacher and then soon entered into Odisha politics . At the age of 64 year by winning as a councillor and later became vice chancellor of Rairangpur National Advisory Council. She has committed her life to serving society and empowering the poor repressed class as well as the marginalised community.
She became MLA twice from BJP legislative Assemblies from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj from 2000 to 2009. In 2017 she has been Awarded as the best MLA of Odisha. Murmu was also national executive member of the BJP and had been in scheduled Tribe (ST) Morcha.

She was the first governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021 and will be the first Tribal president of India and second ever female president from East if she is elected .

: The President of India is selected by the elected member both houses of the parliament and elected member of the legislative Assemblies of all the State and union Territories. Article 55 of the Constitution provides that the election shall be held in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote and the voting at such election shall be by secret ballots.
