Flood in Assam continued to remain increasing. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seek an advance fund to the centre to continue to help the flood affected people. Sarma stated 30,000 to 40,000 houses were damaged in Assam due to the recent massive floods.
CM Sarma requested the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to release an advance amount from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people whose houses were severely or fully damaged. Sarma said the state government will give an actual picture of the extent of damage caused by the flood.
An official statement on Saturday said “The Centre’s door is always open. There is no dearth of funds. Whatever we present legally and logically we will get the required funds” said Shah
CM Sarma said home Minister has accepted his request for immediate release of the advance fund from NDRF.
Earlier Prime Minister tweeted “Army and NDRF teams are present in the flood affected areas. They are conducting evacuation operations and assisting those who are affected. The Air Force has conducted over 250 sorties as a part of the evacuation process”
