Rakshak Plus Scheme: RecentlyPunjab National Bank (PNB) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam Rifles, the oldest paramilitary force of the country, to deliver specially designed banking products to the military personnel through the bank’s flagship scheme ‘PNB Rakshak Plus’.
As per sources, the agreement was signed on 18 July between Colonel PS Singh, Col (A), Headquarters, Directorate General, Assam Rifles, and Sunil Sonil Chief General Manager of PNB, at Assam Rifles Headquarters in Shillong.
Chief General Manager of PNB Sunil Soni said, “Collaborating with the Assam Rifles is a significant milestone in our journey and speak about our unwavering commitment to provide the best possible financial services to our heroes,”he said.
Lt Gen PC Nair, Director General Assam Rifles also expressed his gratitude for associating with PNB in signing the agreement .
Punjab National Bank through it flagship scheme ‘PNB Rakshak Plus’ offers personal accidental and air accidental insurance to Air Force, defence forces and retired Air Force defence pensioners.
The Assam Rifles was established in 1835. It is considered as the oldest of all paramilitary forces. This force plays a crucial role in North East India, handling counterinsurgency and border security operations. They are also guarding the 1,643 km long Indo-Myanmar border since 2002. Assam Rifles is the only paramilitary force with a dual control structure. While the administrative control of the force is with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its operational control is with the Indian Army, which is under the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Assam Rifles is said to be guards India- Myanmar border.
