After 7 decades of extinction Cheetah to make India their home again. Modi government sign an agreement with Namibia.
‘Happy to share that India has signed a historic MoU with Namibia to promote Wildlife conservation and Sustainable Biodiversity Utilization. The MoU seek to promote conservation and restoration of cheetah in their former range from which the species went extinct.’ tweeted Union Cabinet Minister for Environment forest and climate change and labour and employment, Bhupender Yadav.
The world fastest land animal, cheetah, is set to make a comeback in Indian forest. The India and Nambia country which is located on the southwestern coast of Africa signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to rain state cheetah in the country after nearly 70 years of extinction in India.
According to the sources, the agreement to the pact is that the two countries will share and exchange expertise and capacities to promote cheetah conservation in their ranges.
The Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive the first cluster of the animal by August 15 as marked India 75th Independence Day
As per sources it will receive 12 cheetahs from south Africa for which draft agreement has been signed.
