Nagaland Rural Bank on Monday awarded Rs 1.31 crore in loans to seventy-five Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav celebration to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio handed over the cheque to the NSRLM-SHGs during the Independence Day celebration at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima.

This falls in line with the initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development on creating “Lakhpati SHG Women” which enables SHG women to earn at least Rs 1 lakh per annum.
The amount awarded will help the SHGs and their households in income-generating activities at the household level ranging from Agriculture and allied, Livestock, NTFP (Non-timber Forest Products) and other interventions.
