Forest officials in Assam have arrested three people for their involvement in the smuggling of rhino horns near Kaziranga National Park. “One of the accused was caught from the Baghmari area. After his confession, two others were also nabbed,” said District Forest Officer. Park officials found the dehorned rhino on May 9.
According to the forest officials, the trio have been involved in the smuggling of rhino horns near Kaziranga National Park .
Earlier this year, after a case of poachers using tranquillizers to remove rhino horn came into light in Assam’s Orang National Park , since then the forest department of Assam was going through new challenges to protect one-horned Rhinoceros in the state .
As per reports, poachers chopped off the horn without killing a sub-adult rhino in the national park.
The forest officials found out about the incident on May 9 and found a 10-12 years old dehorned sub-adult male rhino, in Muwamari area inside the park.
