Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has given a public apology after his daughter Milari Chhangte was seen hitting a doctor at a clinic in a video clip that went viral on social media. Zoramthanga said he would in no way justify the act.
On 17th August , Milari Chhangte, the daughter of Mizoram CM , was seen hitting an Aizawl-based doctor at a clinic. This happened after the doctor refused to see chhangte without an appointment and this made her furious .
Soon after this incident protests and outrage were ignited among the medical community in the state. During the protests members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Mizoram, wore black badges to their work places on Saturday. As soon as the video of CM’s daughter hitting the doctor went viral, the CM and his family faced severe backlash on social media.
A handwritten note in Mizo was uploaded on the chief minister’s official Instagram account which said that the Chief Minister is seeking for a public apology for his daughter’s misbehaviour towards the doctor and added that he has nothing to speak in her her defense or in no way can justify her conduct has .”
Zoramthanga also thanked the IMA for not initiating any “strict action” against Chhangte.
