Sorenzan Vashum, a youth photographer also a videographer and a self-taught artist from the Ukhrul district, Manipur won the “Big Shorts Challenge, North-East Edition.” .
With no formal training , 24-year-old Vashum is indeed a self taught artist who explored his creative journey with just his mobile phone and improved his skills with dedicatation and passion. Apart from making music videos for his YouTube channel ,vashum is currently working as a wedding photographer .
The Big Shorts Challenge Contest is organised by ABC Talkies. The platform provides an opportunity for these talented filmmakers in the form of a short film challenge exclusively for the eight Northeast states.
This is his first winning short film titled which is a documentary “My Story is God’s Story” . With the highest view this documentary depicts the real life which shows the story of a 19-year-old girl, Chanmayo diagnosed with a rare dermatological disorder, pustular psoriasis, when she was just six years old. This condition causes her skin cells to reproduce much faster than the normal rate.
While depicting the intense battle between her life and her medical condition, it also highlights her family’s support and profound faith and Chanmayo’s persistent faith in God despite many agonizing moments ad hardships . However the film ends on a happy note with Chanmayo who happily sings and move ahead on her journey to a normal life.
Interestingly Chanmayo Kashung starred in the film herself giving the short film a personal and authentic feel.
