Mizoram has sent a consignment of 15.7 metric tonne organic pineapples to Sonipat in Haryana on Thursday. The consignment was flagged off by Agriculture minister C Lalrinsanga from Ch Saprawnga truck terminal in Aizawl.
The organic pineapples were harvested by Tuichangral Organic FPC Limited in Mizoram’s Khawzawl district. The Mizoram pineapples flagged off were sold to Sonipat based Surifresh Extract Private Limited.
During the flag off occasion , Agriculture minister C Lalrinsanga mentioned about the huge demand of Mizoram grown vegetables and fruits in other parts of the country. He said that inorder to meet the increasing demands outside the state , the harvest has to be increased .
He also urged the farmers to increase their harvest and said that the export of pineapples to other states and foreign countries will help give a boost to the government and the local farmers.
During the flag off function , Ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) MLA Dr ZR Thiamsanga, who was present said that the government is giving top priority to farmers.
He further said that the recent meeting of council of ministers has allowed locally grown grapes to be legally processed as wine and sold freely in the markets.
Under Mission Organic Mizoram Agriculture department ,Tuichangral Organic FPC Limited was established by 500 pineapples growers from 8 villages in Khawzawl district in 2021. Also Clover Organic Private Limited has been assigned as service provider to Tuichangral Organic FPC.
Last month, Mizoram had exported fresh locally grown organic pineapples to Dubai and Bahrain.
