Chief Minister of Meghalaya ,Conrad K Sangma announced on Friday that inorder to commemorate the 75th Birth Anniversary of (L) Purno Agitok Sangma, all iconic infrastructures built in the State during his tenure will be given a facelift by the Government.
While Inspecting the Tura Super Market, which was inaugurated by (L) Purno Agitok Sangma in 1998 at Tura town in West Garo Hills, Chief Minister Sangma said that Tura Super Market was the brainchild of his late father and people in Garo Hills can connect the project with him.
Around two decades ago the four-storey massive market complex was commissioned and was one of the biggest market complexes in the entire Northeast during that time.
The Tura Super Market at that time was considered as massive in comparison to the small town .
The market deserves a facelift and upgradation of infrastructure according to the chief minister . He also added that the government will initiate the work to immediately consider the repair and restoration of various amenities within the complex. Repairs and renovation of the infrastructure will be considered including a facelift of the restroom facilities.
CM Sangma also mentioned that the Govt will identify the different interventions and initiatives of late Sangma and thereby budgetary allocation will be provided for further implementation of of those work across the state. During the visit to the market , CM Sangma also interacted with various shop owners and acknowledged their opinions for the upliftment of the market .
