During his visit to the state’s Kokrajhar district, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that from now on March 31 will be observed as Chatra Divas or Students’ Day. He said that in honour of the contribution of Bodo leader Bodofa Upendranath Brahma towards socio-economic & cultural empowerment of Bodo community, our Govt has decided to observe his birthday on March 31 every year as Chatra Divas.
So from now on following the announcement , the state government will take initiatives to celebrate March 31 as Chatra Divas every year ,CM Sarma said .
Himanta Biswa Sarma is in Kokrajhar for the weekly cabinet meeting to be held there later in the day. During his presence there he paid tributes to Bodofa Udendranath Brahma at his burial ground at Thulungapuri in Dotoma.
CM Sarma further laid the foundation stone for infrastructural developments of the burial ground there, to be done at a cost of Rs 10 crores.
