Ever since Tapi Mra, the first mountaineer from Arunachal Pradesh to scale Mount Everest, and his associate Niku Dao, have gone missing after they set out on an expedition in the state’s East Kameng district, the rescue team has been trying every means to trace them .
And now as per latest reports, Satellite imagery is being used to trace both the missing mountaineers Tapi Mra and Niku Dao, who had gone to climb the state’s highest peak.
Tapi Mra set out on an expedition in the state’s East Kameng district to Mt. Kyarisatam (Mt. Chiumo) which is located at the India-Tibet border at an altitude of 6,890 metres but as reported by six members of the expedition who reached Seppa from their expedition base camp on August 29 evening , both Mra and his associate Dao have been detached from the group and were left untraceable since August 17. Mra aged 37, climbed the Mount Everest on May 21, 2009.
Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla, Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng district’s on Monday said that they are trying to detect the satellite imagery of the National Remote Sensing Centre and Shillong-based North East Space Applications Centre, but there is still no clue received to trace these mountaineers.
Meanwhile the district administration is frequently in touch with the families of Tapi Mra and Niku Dao.
Kameng, Kania and Wapriyang Bung, these rivers were overflown due to persistent rain for the past few days . In order to trace the two missing mountaineers four army helicopters to conduct an aerial search remained on standby.
However additionally , the state government has sought help from the Indian Army’s Tezpur-headquartered Gajraj Corps for the rescue mission.
