Assamese short film, Mur Ghurar Duronto Goti-The Horse from Heaven becomes the second Assamese film to be nominated to the coveted Academy Awards after ‘Village Rockstars’ which was earlier nominated in The Best Foreign Language Film category and was India’s official entry to the Awards.
Assamese short film Mur Ghurar Duronto Goti-The Horse from Heaven has received the honour of winning the first prize in the Indian Competition Section at Bengaluru International Short Film Festival 2022. And now this Assamese short film is all set to compete in Best Live Action Short Film Category.
The short film Mur Ghurar Duronto Goti-The Horse from Heaven directed by Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap features Veteran Assamese actor Atul Pachani . The story revolves around the irrational beliefs and how it leads to spiritual devoutness. Assam’s folk dance Ojapali has also been highlighted in the short film thereby paving the way for international acclaim.
Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap , the director of the film feels it like a dream. Although he adds that no award can ever validate any piece of ‘art’ or ‘non-art’ but the Oscar is still a dream. Maharshi always wanted to be a filmmaker since class 8 and he didn’t give up on his passion. Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap has earlier also written the scripts for two feature films Boroxun-Songs of Rain (2021) and Bulu Film (2022) and has directed another short film- Poetry of Whispers (Kaan Phus Phusot Phus Phusoni) (2019) and a documentary Water Water Everywhere (2020).
Mur Ghurar Duronto Goti-The Horse from Heaven was earlier screened at the Cineteca Nacional Museum in Mexico City and Kolkata International Film Festival.
