The iPhone 14 has created a lot of attention because of its features. However the one feature of iPhone 14 Pro that has gained special attention and mention is its ‘Crash Detection’ feature. As per this feature the iPhone 14 Pro immediately connects the user to emergency services once it detects that the user have been in a severe car crash. Apple is using a slew of sensors in the iPhone 14 Pro in order to detect crashes, including a new dual-core accelerometer and gyroscope.
However Ultra modern Smart features come with extra issues as well since as per a report on the Wall Street Journal, the Crash detection feature responded to a roller coaster ride taking it to be a Car Crash .
It all started after a woman who was riding a roller coaster was carrying an iPhone 14 Pro. But when she checked her phone after the ride, she noticed several missed calls and voice messages from an emergency dispatcher.
The woman who was initially confused realized later that the phone’s Crash Detection feature was triggered by the roller coaster ride and automatically it called 911. The phone called 911 with an automated voice message which said, “The owner of this iPhone was in a severe car crash and is not responding to their phone.”
The phone automatically picked up the background sounds from the amusement park including hoots, music, and cheering people having fun.
Since the iPhone 14 went on sale, the 911 dispatch center near Kings Island amusement park has received at least six phones calls saying:
“The owner of this iPhone was in a severe car crash…”
Except, the owner was just on a roller coaster.
