Assam is placed in ‘Achievers Category’ under NE State Cluster in LEADS (Logistics Ease Across Different States) 2022 Report, a national index that analyses & ranks logistics of States.
Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Gujarat are among the 15 States and UTs included as achievers in the logistics index chart 2022, according to a report released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on October 13, 2022. The index is an indicator of the efficiency of logistical services necessary for promoting exports and economic growth.
However Assam achieved highest rating in terms of infrastructure quality and reliability of logistics services, which includes the operating and regulatory environment in the logistics ecosystem of the state.
The states are ranked in the report on the basis of their logistics ecosystem, highlights the key logistics-related challenges faced by the stakeholders and includes suggestive recommendations, according to the fourth LEADS (Logistics Ease Across Different States) 2022 report unveiled by the Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
The rating of Assam is based on Assam government’s initiatives like: Introduction of Assam Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2022; deploying of Automatic Number Plate Recognizing (ANPR) system on NH-37 that divides Kaziranga National Park; implementation of web-based E-Challan system; setting up of a Driver and Conductors Training School in Betkuchi,Guwahati; and National Institute for Automotive Inspection Maintenance and Training (NIAIMT) at Silchar.
