Three Tourists from Sweden were detained by the Namrup police in the Dibrugarh district for participating in a religious meeting flouting visa norms. According to reports the Swedish tourists will be deported to Sweden on Thursday.
A three-day “Peace and Healing Prayer Festival” organised by the United Churches Fellowship and Bless Assam Mission Network was scheduled from October 25 to October 27 at the Achabam Ghinai playground at Namrup. The tourists who were identified as Hannah Mikaela Bloom, Marcus Arne Henrik Bloom and Susanna Elizabeth Hakansson arrived in Namrup and upon invitation by a friend participated in the religious meeting .
As per reports, DSP Namrup, Naba Kumar Borah said that the tourists participated and also addressed the congregation which was not supposed to be done . Since they came on tourist visa they were not supposed to participate in such activities.
The DSP further added that they were detained by the police for going against visa norms. However looking at the good relationship between India and Sweden the matter has been sorted by their embassy. No case was registered against them. They will be deported back to their country on Thursday.
