No-Shave November” is actually a month-long journey for awareness about cancer, Men during this month avoid shaving and grooming in order to increase cancer awareness and discussion about cancer. The campaign aims to let men embrace the hair and allow it to grow wild and free which is instead lost by many cancer patients while undergoing cancer due to treatment of chemotherapy and other medical procedures.
It is said that the No-Shave November global movement was started by an organization with the same name which is a web-based non-profit organization engaged creating cancer awareness programs among people and helps in raising funds for cancer prevention, research and education.
People across the globe is seen participating in this global event . People participate by growing a beard, cultivating a mustache by putting down their razor for 30 days .
Women can also participate by letting their legs go natural and avoiding that waxing for a month. Once the decision to drop razor for a month is taken then the monthly hair maintenance expenses can be donated for cancer patients.
According to a story behind the creation of No-Shave November a family in California came up with the idea of ‘No Shave November’ in 2009 to raise money for charity towards people battling cancer and related ailments. The idea was taken by the family’s children after their father Mathew Hill who was diagnosed with colon cancer in the year 1996 passed away in the in November 2007. The 8 sons and daughter of the Mathew Hill started the fundraising campaign for cancer prevention, awareness, education, and research.
