A 23-year-old tribal girl from Jharkhand , who was missing for five years was reunited with her family with the help of the Aadhaar Card database.
The girl named Rashmani, daughter of a daily wager from the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand , was promised a job in Delhi by an agent in 2017 and since her family was going through tremendous financial crisis ,they agreed to send their daughter.
However, after rashmani boarded the train with the agent for Delhi, she sensed trouble and escaped at the Fatehpur station. There she was rescued by the railway police and was kept at a shelter home where she was named Rashi.
The police attempted several times to get to her native place but failed in doing so. Later she was sent to the women shelter home in Allahabad.
According to reports “She was brought to Lucknow in July for rehabilitation. The authorities attempted to apply for her Aadhaar card but it was rejected. And during the sixth attempt, it showed duplication as the biometrics was shown matching with another existing Aadhaar number. Thereafter, the original address was traced..
Finally that’s how Aadhar card helped Rashmani to get back to Jharkhand and reunite with her family.
