With the 2022 FIFA World Cup set to kick off on Sunday, football fans are getting ready to witness it the grand edition . The eight stadiums for the tournament which is located in and around the Qatari capital city of Doha, with intriguing architectural designs include a hat-shaped building and a “diamond in the desert”.
The international football tournament is scheduled from 20 November to 18 December.
Among the eight grand stadiums each being intriguing and extravagant in its own style , there also happens to be a 40,000-seat ‘transportable’ stadium.
For the first time in history a World cup match will be witnessed inside a ‘transportable stadium.
The transportable stadium named as Stadium 974, is named after Qatar’s international dialling code, as well as the number of shipping containers used to build its staircases, kiosks, bathrooms and parts of its exterior.
The completion of Stadium 974 in the Ras Abu Aboud region of Doha, was done in late November . The astonishing stadium has been designed by Spanish studio ,Fenwick Irribarren Architects .The 40,000-seat stadium near Doha’s Port was formerly known as Ras Abu Aboud and is the first stadium designed as fully demountable .
The stadium’s modular structure combines repurposed shipping containers and a steel structure, parts of which are recycled. According to reports the modular design has reduced the constructions cost, construction time and material waste, and it is also said in comparison to a conventional stadium , Stadium 974 is equipped with water efficiency methods which will ensure to reduce use of water by 40 per cent.
The aim of constructing such a stadium is to enable the dismantling of the stadium and to relocate and reassemble the stadium in a new location after the football tournament for further use .
