Do you remember Dashrath Manjhi, a resident of Bihar’s Gehlaur village, who did the impossible by single-handedly carving a 30-foot-wide and 360-foot-long path through a hill 25 feet high using only a hammer and chisel? A bollywood film was made on his life story featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui titled Manjhi- The Mountain Man.
Recently a similar example has been set by another man from Bihar who is now being termed as Manjhi 2.0. The man who is a resident of Jaru Banwariya village has been identified as Ganauri Paswan. The 50-year-old Ganauri Paswan took a daring task of doing the impossible which he actually did. While using only basic tools like a hammer and a chisel, the man carved 400 steps on a mountain that leads to a temple.
As per reports he worked for eight years to cut the mountain and create the steps that lead to the Baba Yogeshwar Nath temple. During his solo mission he was occasionally be accompanied by his friends and family.
Paswan was moved by the difficulties and challenges faced by the people of Jehanabad while visiting Yogeshwar Nath temple in Jaru Banwaria village mostly as it was a severe critical route for elderly citizens , children and people with disabilities.
Earlier Paswan who used to work as a truck driver initially later shifted to his profession of masonry in Jehanabad. During stair building work he and his family was provided with full support and cooperation of the villagers.
Now the route which used to be extremely long and difficult used to consume 8 hours of devotees to reach the temple. But now with the stairs being completed the time has cut down shortly. Earlier the route was just a rocky mountain with thorny plants and different obstacles which used to injure the devotees on their way.
Although the task of carving stairs on a mountain was extremely unbelievable and risky but Paswan did it with his patience and dedication , while speaking on his mission he said that he never took it or felt it to be a task . He did it happily getting lost in the mountain, working all day. He mentioned that all he wanted was to make it easier for devotees of Baba Bholenath to reach him easily, he was quoted saying on news reports .
However the only challenge he faced was to stay away from his family for the most part of the year while carving the stairs.
Ganauri Paswan’s dedication and passion has proved it once again – “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
