Complaints were flooded by frustrated passengers since multiple travelers complained about missing their flights and delayed check-ins because of the massive overcrowded situation. Reacting to the constant complaints, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia made a surprise visit to check the airport situation at Terminal 3 on December 12 and spoke to airport officials to find a solution. . Among the three terminals, Terminal 3 or T3 is the worst-affected of the Delhi Airport.
As per reports , the T3 terminal at the at Indira Gandhi International Airport witnessed a extremely severe rush over the past few days resulting in long queues at the airport , passenger delays , verbal fights, quarrels between passengers and arguments with airport staff. The images and videos of the passengers at Delhi airport triggered a massive social media outburst from the passengers .
While addressing the media Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the aviation industry was suffering severely due to COVID restrictions. After COVID recovery, there is a lot of congestion at the airports.
However today morning , smooth passenger movement was observed at all terminal entry gates according to Delhi Airport authorities yet passengers are still complaining of long queues and delays during security check.
Hourly updates of T3 situation are being updated on the official Twitter handle of Delhi Airport this morning, which says that the average waiting time at entry gates is between 0 to 5 minutes. But even though passengers tweeted complaining about long lines inside the airport.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), is known to be the busiest and the largest airport of the country . The IGIA has three terminals — T1, T2 and T3. All international flights and some domestic services operate from T3.
Airlines like IndiGo and Air India have advised passengers to reach the airport 3.5 hours before scheduled departures for domestic flights keeping congestion in mind.
