Sania Mirza, the daughter of a TV mechanic from Uttar Pradesh, is going to become the country’s first Muslim woman fighter pilot. She secured 149th rank in National Defence Academy (NDA )exam .
Sania who has become the pride of her family and village, is a resident of Jasovar, a small village in the Mirzapur Dehat Kotwali police station area of Uttar Pradesh.
Sania completed her 10th education at Pandit Chintamani Dubey Inter College, from the village. Sania completed the 12th exam from Guru Nanak Girls Inter College in Mirzapur and became a district topper in the UP class 12th board. She appeared for the NDA exam 2022on April 10.
However this is not her first attempt to crack the exam. “There were only two seats reserved for the women in the fighter pilot wing. I failed to grab a seat in the first attempt. However, I managed to bag a seat in the second attempt,” Mirza told ETV Bharat online.
Her mother Tabassum Mirza was quoted saying, “Our daughter has made us and the entire village proud. She fulfils the dream of becoming the first fighter pilot. She inspired every girl in the village to follow their dreams.”
Mirza,who studied in a Hindi-medium school till Class 10 ,hopes that her achievement will inspire others and proves that that studying in Hindi medium is not a barrier to success.
While referring Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi as her inspiration, Sania told to ANI: “I was very much inspired by Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi and seeing her I decided to join NDA. I hope younger generation will someday get inspired by me.”
Mirza has become not only the country’s first Muslim woman officer to join the IAF but also the first woman officer from the state to join as a fighter pilot .
