Its the season of Raas festival now and the festivities has begun across Assam with great enthusiasm . It is worth noting that this year’s annual Howly Raas festival in the Barpeta region of Assam is unlike previous ones .
There were long queues outside the ticket counter with people lining up for lottery tickets, each prized at Rs 100 and promising high-end luxury cars for the lucky winners.
The organising committee arranges a lottery competition every year called ‘Upahar Coupon Khel’ during the Raas Mahotsav and this year marks the 95th edition of the popular annual event at Howly.
As per reports ,in the year 2000, the ‘Upahar Coupon Khel’ was introduced and the prizes included a Maruti 800 car, bikes and other household items but with time the competition received overwhelming response after which one or more cars of different brands was added to the list of prizes since 2005 onwards.
According to the Raas Mahotsav organizing committee, this year’s lottery competition has an incredible prize pool as lucky winners will be awarded 21 luxury vehicles. The incredible prize list has generated unbelievable craze among the people from all across the state which has resulted into never ending queues outside the counter to buy tickets .
According to further reports , the committee has released 3.20 lakh tickets and will give away 21 luxury vehicles and the first prize is an AUDI A4 while the second is an MG Hector. The lottery competition will be conducted on November 21.
The lucky draw competition of Howly Raas Festival is extremely popular and is widely known for its transparency and conducting the draw in public arena under the supervision of judges and the general public.
The Raas Leela’ is a spiritual function and an annual festival which is performed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of October-November.
