“Ram Setu” , Akshay Kumar’s latest release is scoring low figures at the box office. The movie Ram Setu has now landed into a legal trouble as the film is now threatened with legal action by Ashok Kumar Kainth who is the head of the department of the Ramayan Research Committee in Sri Lanka .
As per allegations made by Ashok Kumar Kainth against the movie Ram Setu, his research work and life story have been copied without his permission.
He further claims that Dr Aryan which is the lead character in the movie featuring Akshay Kumar is the replication of him and his life story. The character on the movie was actually a representation of Ashok Kanith who researched the existence of the Ramayan facts in Sri Lanka. While making the film the research work for the character has been taken from Kanith’ s website without his consent .
While stressing on the issue as a case of copyrights ,he said that the movie could have been better if the filmmakers approached him to discuss different pointers on the subject since he was the one executing the onground research work.
According to further reports , Kanith wouldn’t have minded if the filmmakers approched and took him into confidence . Kanith worked on a special tourism project to showcase the 50-odd sites connected to the Ramayana .
As mentioned in Indiatimes ,While elaborating Kainth reveals that their discovery of Ramayan trail included “Seetha Kotuwa”, the palace where Sita was kept before Ashok Vatika, “The Chariot path and Seetha Tear Pond”, “Divurumpola”, the place where Sita underwent “Agni pariksha” and “Ravana caves”, tunnels which are of architectural brilliance and provide easy routes through the hills, the colour of the soil of the ancient battlefield, which is still red today, exotic alpine Himalayan species are found amid the tropical Sri Lankan vegetation, the legacy of Hanuman’s voyage carrying a mountain with life-restoring herbs.”
