- It is believed that initially light pink colour was the patent for nail polish which dates back to 1919.
- According to some reports , Roman women used belladonna drops to make their pupils appear larger and appealing. But since belladonna was considered to be a poison so this practice was discontinued . Atropa belladonna, commonly known as belladonna or deadly nightshade, is a toxic perennial herbaceous plant .
- It is also said that ,Cleopatra was said to have soaked her ship sails in perfume so that everyone could sense her arrival with the perfume.
- The Aztecs used beetles to make red lipstick. The Aztecs were known as the Native American people who dominated northern Mexico at the time of the Spanish conquest in the early 16th century.
- As per some claims, British-American actress, Elizabeth Taylor allegedly prevented other women on-set from wearing red lipstick.
- Lipstick was also used as a symbol of freedom from oppression by one of Feminists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton who was believed to wear lipstick as they marched for the right to vote.
- Beauty Patches were seen during the Roman era when a Roman womanused to wear small and round beauty spots calledsplenia. During the 17th century patches became a fashion statement, particularly for the upper classes. Those patches were worn by men and women alike.
