Though it has been a long time watching her on screen but Bipasha Basu used to be a trending actress for her presence on screen. She was called as horror queen of Bollywood for her back to back supernatural films. And guess what she also loved her being called so.
Bipasha Basu made her bollywood entry through Ajnabee (2001) but she got even more popular and recognized with the film –Jism(2003) because of her bold presence. But now since a long time now she seems missing from the Silver screen and she seems not to be signing any films for long. However she once mentioned in an interview about her plans to resume working in movies soon. But in her career span of over 14 years Bipasha Basu has done more films in the horror genre. Raaz – 2002
Raaz was her first horror film which was the unofficial adaptation of the Hollywood film , What Lies Beneath. The audience loved the Raaz movie. But during the time of the release in 2002 , Bipasha Basu was still a newcomer but she still took the daring step to do a horror film .
Bipasha’s role was Sanjana and Dino Morea’s was Aditya .As per the story Sanjana and Aditya try to give a last chance to their broken marriage and decides to spend a quality time in Ooty where they first fell in love. But events take a sinister turn because of a ghostly presence.
The music of the Raaz movie was really popular among the audience. People also loved the chemistry between Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu.
Raaz 3 – The Third Dimension– 2012
After ten years of Raaz, Bipasha again made her entry with the third edition of Raaz series in 2012 .Bipasha Basu plays Shanaya, a forgotten actress whose career seems to fade away . Shanaya turns to black magic to revive her lost success in her career and bring destruction for her rival Sanjana Krishna played by Esha gupta. . Emraan Hashmi starred with Bipasha for the first time. Bipasha’s acting in the film was highly appreciated .
Aatma – 2013
Bipasha continued her acting with the horror genre. Aatma movie was released in 2013 starring Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. Although this movie didn’t work out in the box office but it surely managed to be successful to create the fear effect . Bipasha Basu played Maya, a single mother who fights all the odds against a supernatural power (Nawazuddin Siddique) to save her daughter. Maya is haunted by the spirit of her husband, who died in a car accident shortly after losing custody of their daughter; she struggles against this supernatural force to live a happy and peaceful life.
Creature 3D – 2014
This movie as the name says feature a creature rather than those typical ghosts or atmas . The creature is a Brahmaraksasa . The film features Bipasha Basu as Ahana and pakistani actor Imran Abbas debuted as Kunal in lead roles . Ahana who is the owner of a new hotel in the hills meet Kunal at the launch party and love started to bloom soon after but not for long when they found themselves targeted and threatened by a massive creature that begins to kill the residents. Although the film failed to receive the desired success but Bipasha once again keep her record intact of being the horror queen.
Alone – 2015
The last horror film by Bipasha Basu as of now is Alone released in 2015. Alone is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Chaarulatha featuring Priyamani in twin roles. Bipasha basu was seen in a double role too as conjoined twins. The film featured Tv actor and now her Husband Karan Singh Grover .As per the story of the film a pair of identical conjoined twins Sanjana/Anjana played Bipasha promises each other to be always together but mysterious circumstances lead to the death of one, while the other survives and later the ghost of the dead comes back to haunt the surviving twin sister.
So with these back to back supernatural films Bipasha Basu “ALONE” fought the “CREATURE” , Played the “ATMA” herself and managed to unveil some really mysterious “RAAZ” . And that’s how she justified the title of the “Horror Queen” of Bollywood.
