Amou Haji, the 94-year-old Iranian man and also known worldwide as the “dirtiest man in the world” for not taking a shower for decades has died at the age of 94.
According to a news report by IRNA news agency , Amou Haji who refrained from washing and cleaning himself for more than half a century and was single, died on Sunday in the village of Dejgah in Iran’s southern province of Fars .
The reason of refraining himself from showering was his extreme fear of “getting sick”. But according to further reports “for the first time a few months ago, the villagers persuaded him and had taken him to a bathroom to wash.”
As per reports, Amou Haji had some “emotional setbacks in his youth” which is why he avoided to bath with water and soap.
According to a report published in Tehran Times, Haji who believed that cleanliness will make him ill would eat roadkill, smoke a pipe filled with animal excrement.
Social media is filled with his images where he is also seen smoking smoking multiple cigarettes at once.
This weird lifestyle of Amou Haji has been well described through a short documentary titled ‘The Strange Life of Amou Haji’ made in 2013.
