Himesh Reshammiya’s Naam Hai Tera Music Video
Although deepika made her entry into bollywood through Om Shanti Om but she actually made her career through a music video named Naam Hai Tera. In the year 2006, Deepika Padukone featured alongside music director and songwriter Himesh Reshammiya in the Naam Hai Tera music video. Later she was spotted by Om Shanti Om’s director Farah Khan and decided to sign her on as Shanti Priya, alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal. Deepika also thanked Himesh Reshammiya for giving her the opportunity in the sets of the reality show Indian Idol 11 back in 2019 during her visit for Chhapaak promotions ..
She debuted in a Kannada –Language film
Many of us believe that she did her film debut with Farah Khan directorial Om Shanti Om (2007), but actually it was in a Kannada-language film, Aishwarya, where the star first appeared on-screen. The romantic drama was directed by Indrajit Lankesh and hit the silver screen on 15th September 2006.
Kingfisher Calendar Girl
Before her acting profession, Deepika Padukone was a model. She was featured in the Kingfisher Calendar and even won the title of the ‘Kingfisher Model of the Year’ in 2005. She also made her fashion week debut by walking the ramp for designer Suneet Varma at Lakmé Fashion Week the same year.
Deepika was offered the Saawariya movie
Deepika was all set to make her film debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya (2007), opposite Ranbir Kapoor. But it didn’t happen due to unforeseen circumstances, and later Sonam Kapoor got the role of Sakina in the romance musical. However interestingly Saawariya and Om Shanti Om were released on the same date, 9th November 2007.

Deepika’s all time favorite cuisine is South Indian. She is also known for having a sweet tooth her favorite food is the humble rasam and rice combo, deepika once told Vogue India that if she could pick her last meal on earth, it would be a plateful of this South Indian staple.
Born Abroad
Deepika was born in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. According to reports her father, former Indian badminton player, Prakash Padukone, was undergoing an extensive training session in the Scandinavian country at the time. However, the family moved back to India when Deepika was just short of turning one.
Role of Veronica in Cocktail (2012)
As per reports ,Deepika was offered to choose between the lead roles of Meera and Veronica in the movie Cocktail, alongside Diana Penty and Saif Ali Khan. But since Deepika’s character in Love Aaj Kal (2009) was similar to that of ‘Meera’ in Cocktail, she decided to go for the role of Veronica.
A National-Level Badminton Player
Apart from being model and actor, being a proud daughter of a former Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone, Deepika is a national-level badminton player herself. Deepika Padukone has also played basketball at the state level.
