Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a Bollywood psychological horror film starring Akshay Kumar,Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel , Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani and Vikram Gokhale which was released in 2007 directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. It was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam Film Manichitrathazhu , adapted by Neeraj Vora and Manisha Korde
Bhool Bhulaiyaa was known as one of the highest grossing Hindi Film of 2007.
As per the storyline, An NRI and his wife decide to stay in his ancestral home even though they were strictly warned about the presence of an evil ghost in their home , however the modern couple didn’t pay any heed to the warnings. Soon, the couple and their family encounter inexplicable occurrences which lead the NRI to call a psychiatrist to help solve the mystery.

Initially Aishwarya Rai Bacchan and Katrina Kaif were the original choices for the role of Avni and Radha which was later played by Vidya Balan and Ameesha Patel .
For the male lead, Akshay Kumar was always the first choice and so as for the role of Shashidhar, Classical dance trained Malayalam actor Vineet was the fixed choice .
The haunted palace that was shown in the movie was actually a renowned palace called Chomu Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan .
Rani Mukerji was also offered the role of Avni played by Vidya Balan but due to clash with her another movie Laaga Chunari Mein Daag she declined it.
Abhishek Bachchan was offered Shiney Ahuja’s role but he turned it down.
According to reports, both Om Shanti Om and Bhool Bhuliaiyaa movies were shot at same studio simultaneously on different sets. One day during shooting , veteran actor Asrani who was shooting for Bhool bhulaiya met a couple with their seven month old baby . The couple started introducing the baby to Asrani while he was kept wondering about how would a seven month old baby would recognize him. Suddenly the couple spotted Shahrukh Khan coming out of the sets of Om Shanti Om and after seeing him the couple ran way to click photos with him leaving their baby with Asrani. Imagine the funny moment.
