Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the platform has been introducing new rules and making new announcements almost every week . And recently, the company’s labels and checkmarks have been updated.
According to the earlier process, the verified accounts would simply request Twitter for a verification tick, which they receive after they get qualified for it.
According to Twitter, blue checkmark means two different things: “either that an account was verified under Twitter’s previous verification criteria (active, notable, and authentic), or that the account has an active subscription to Twitter’s new Twitter Blue subscription product and meets certain requirements,” reads the official announcement by Twitter.
Whereas if a particular account has a Gold checkmark it indicates that the particular account represents a legitimate company or an official business and has Twitter Blue for Business subscription.
Similarly accounts with Grey checkmarks indicate that the account represents a government official or a multilateral organization which include national crisis response agencies, law enforcement agencies, embassies, major national level agencies etc.
There are also “official labels” additionally which according to Twitter are used by commercial companies “including business partners, major brands, media outlets, and publishers.
Similarly, Labels of state affiliation are available on accounts that are under the control of state-affiliated media “and individuals closely associated with those entities.” Meanwhile “heavily engaged in geopolitics and diplomacy from main countries where Twitter operates” are subject to Government labels .
The pilot for Twitter Blue for Business has launched its trial programme. Moreover as per information,in addition to the regular verification process , Twitter will allow companies to link their primary accounts with those of their employees.
Starting today, you’ll start seeing additional icons that provide context for accounts on Twitter. In addition to blue and gold checks, you’ll see grey checks for government and multilateral accounts and square affiliation badges for select businesses. pic.twitter.com/9hLIUYdQGh
