The Government of India decided to celebrate the 75 years of Independence with great enthusiasm and tribute to freedom fighters. Amrit Mahotsav meaning Nectar of grand celebration, signifies the 75 years of India’s Independence from British Raj. The overall celebrations began on 12th March, 2021 and will continue upto 15th August, 2023.
As usual on the 15th of August, 2022, the Prime Minister of India will hoist the Tiranga from the Red Fort at Delhi, followed by speech on achievements and proud moments celebrated together by the citizens of this nation. The individual states and cities of India will also celebrate the same at their local level.
Assam’s former Chief Minister and now Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayush, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal says, “Tiranga is our honour, our pride and our symbol of self respect”. He himself took part in Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at the Sarusajai Stadium in the city. Following his footsteps, by 13th of August, it has been seen that the citizens of Guwahati have also started to celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga by hoisting flags at their personal residents, offices, workplace, etc. Present Chief Minister of Assam, Dr, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has also shown his magnanimity by visiting the freedom fighters and noted political personalities by visiting their homes and gifting the Tricolour to them.
This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India this far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
It is heartening to see the public showing such overwhelming response to the Har Ghar Tiranga programme but one should in no way show disrespect to the National Flag by hoisting it in the wrong way or throwing it on the ground. If anyone notices a flag lying on the ground, it must be our utmost duty to immediately pick it up and hand it over to the concerned authority or bring home for safe custody.
And on this auspicious occasion, how can one true patriot forget Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s immortal quote, “Yeh vandan ki dharti hain, abhinandan ki dharti hain, yeh arpan ki bhoomi hain, yeh tarpan ki bhoomi hain, iski nadi nadi hamare liye ganga hain, iska kankar kankar hamare liye shankar hain”. Jai Hind.
