One of the areas of concern for post Independent Assam is that the state has produced very less number of IAS, IPS and other All India Service Officers. Though of late there has been some kind of silver lining that every year some Assamese youths are selected to the coveted services of the country but for the state of Assam, its still a long way to go in this aspect .
Shri Pranabjyoti Nath is an IAS officer but with a difference. He is an IAS officer of 2005 batch of Kerala cadre. Apart from an able administrator he is known for another great quality and its that he is a talented singer who very effortlessly sings Malayalam song with great ease and comfort!
Recently many news channel have telecast long interviews of Shri Nath in which the young officer was speaking in Malayalam effortlessly and singing lines from his recent compositions.
Shri Nath is married to Dr Mamta Rani Nayak , an Odisha Administrative Service Officer( OAS) . Being Son-in- law of Odisha , Bhubaneswar is second home to the couple and their only child Udit . Shri Nath picked up Odiya too in no time and today he is one of the popular singers in Oriya music. He has sung more than 30 Oriya songs with music composition by great musicians like Shri Laxmikant Palit . Dr Mamata Rani who is an alumni of JNU , keeps avowed interest in art and literature and naturally most of Nath’s Oriya songs are penned by his better half, Dr Mamta Rani Nayak.
Born to Shri Dineswar Nath and Smt Arati Nath, of Rupnagar , Guwahati Pranabjyoti Nath studied in city Ulubari High School cotton college, and JNU Delhi. He has also written good number of poems both in Assamese and English and he has publication of a collection of poems titled ….The Sun behind the Bamboo Jungle which received wide acclamation from all concerned.
A rare of the breeds , a current generatiom Assamese IAS officer, Shri Nath is also known for his administrative acumen , sensitivity and efficiency. He was awarded with the National Best Livelihood Development Program during his stint in Odisha on deputation. Shri Nath received accolades for his persistent, pragmatic and passionate works in the transit of migrated laborers from kerala to other parts of the country, mainly Eastern and NE India.
Shri Nath is presently posted as Secretary to Water Resource Department and others under the Kerala Government.
