Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on 7th December since 1949, Armed Forces Flag Day is observed across the country in honour of the martyrs and the soldiers serving in India’s armed forces as well as the veterans. The day is commemorated to honour the soldiers who bravely fought for our country & continue to fight to protect the country’s and safeguard its honour.
The soldiers are the true heroes and protector of our nation and its citizens. In order to serve the nation they perform their duty sacrificing their life and even wounded for life to protect ours. Because of their selfless service towards the nation , the country and its citizens are forever indebted to these brave heroes.
This day hence serves as a day dedicated for the army. The selfless service cannot be measured by any means but the least that we can do for the martyrs and the wounded soldiers is to not only admire them but also to support them and their families who were part of the sacrifice with all sorts of contribution including care, support, rehabilitation and financial aid .
Apart from Government measures at the Centre and the State level, every citizen needs to be responsible to provide their own contribution to the armed forces and their family. Armed Forces Flag Day brings to the forefront our commitment of looking after our disabled Soldiers, Veer Naris and widows and dependants of the Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
In the process of achieving victories for the nation while fighting terrorism or insurgency, the nation has lost several valuable lives and continue to lose as well as leaving many of them disabled. The loss of these precious lives traumatize the family who suffers the most after losing their loved member .Hence the army men who are left severely wounded and disabled require care, support and rehabilitation to lead a dignified life.
Moreover there are also Ex- servicemen who suffer from serious diseases but many of them are unable to afford the high cost of treatment. Hence its our responsibility to provide care and support to them as well.
Hence this is why the Armed Forces Flag Day is observed. The nation remembers the services rendered by Army, Navy and Air Force personnels are remembered.
Efforts are taken on this day to raise collections from the public. Across India the Indian Armed Units, comprising the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy organise a variety of activities to highlight the achievements of our army forces and personnel.
