We are just few hours away from the New Year . Like every year this year too was a full of experiences, incidents , occurrences and memories. There were also unexpected happenings that had shaken the world like Russia-Ukraine conflict, Heat wave and now the severe cold wave and  blizzard in US.   But in 2022 we also lost some of the great personalities from different sectors.

Indian personalities too starting from actors , singers and other noted people  from different sectors  died in the year 2022.

Let us remember those lost  personalities once again before the end of this year 2022.

Pandit Birju Maharaj

Indian Kathak legend , composer, and singer ,Pandit Birju Maharaj who was a member of the Lucknow “Kalka-Bindadin” Gharana died of a heart attack at his Delhi home in the early hours of  17th January 2022. He was just a month away  from his 85th birthday. Pandit Birju Maharaj was a  recipient of the country’s second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, and was fondly called as Pandit-ji or Maharaj-ji by his disciples and legions of followers, and was one of India’s best known artistes.

Lata Mangeshkar

The most unfortunate news of 2022 for every Indian was the demise of Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. The Gem of Indian music Industry passed away at the age of 92 on 6 February 2022. Her absence  shocked the entire Indian film industry and her fans.

 Bappi Lahiri

Popular music composer and singer from India, Bappi Lahiri died on 16 February 2022 due to underlying health issues. Also referred to as the ‘Disco King’ in India, Bappi Lahiri remains loved for his contribution to the Indian music industry.

Pandit Shivkumar Sharma

Veteran Santoor Maestro, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma died of a heart arrest at the age of 84 on May 10, 2022. The legendary personality  attained international fame by playing the music instrument, santoor. He popularized the  santoor on a global level. This legendary Indian classical musician is credited for modifying the instrument for Indian classical music. He was  suffering from kidney failure for several months  and was on dialysis on a regular basis. After his death he was given a state funeral at the Pawan Hans Juhu aerodrome in Mumbai on May 11, 2022. The demise of this gem was a severe loss of the music Industry globally.

Sidhu Moosewala

The famous Indian musician, rapper, songwriter, and actor Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala or Sidhu Moosewala, was a popular personality known for his work in Punjabi music and cinema. Sidhu was shot to death by some unidentified assailants in his car in Jawaharke village, Mansa district on May 29, 2022.

Sidhu Moosewala who was also known to be one of the most influential Punjabi performers was often  credited for paving the way for Punjabi singers to break into mainstream music.

Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK)

One of the most loved singer in the Indian music Industry the famous Indian playback singer, Krishnakumar Kunnath, also popularly referred to as KK, passed away on 1 June 2022 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. Before his demise the 53-year-old singer was in Kolkata for an event when he suddenly had a cardiac arrest and succumbed to it.

Kishor Das

Assamese actor Kishor Das who was also a beloved personality passed away on 2nd July  after a year-long battle with cancer at a very young age of 30 years. Kishor Das had been receiving cancer treatment at a Chennai hospital since March this year. Reports have revealed that he was suffering from COVID-19 infection as well at the time of his death. Kishor was a very popular face in the Assamese entertainment industry. He featured in numerous Assamese television shows like ‘Bandhun’, ‘Bidhata’, and ‘Nedekha Fagun’. Apart from acting in TV shows, Kishor also had several famous songs to his name. Kishor was last seen in the Assamese movie ‘Dada Tumi Dusto Bor’ released on June 24, this year.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala

Indian billionaire businessman, Chartered Accountant, stock trader, and investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, died at the age of 62 on 14th August 2022 due to sudden cardiac arrest.The veteran trader-cum-investor was also known as the Big Bull of Dalal Street  and was reported to have a net worth of around $5.8 billion, according to Forbes. He was the 36th richest billionaire in India, according to Forbes’ 2021 listing. Jhunjhunwala was often referred to as India’s own Warren Buffet for his ability to pick up low-priced quality stocks much before they became high performers . Akasa Air was also founded by him.

Raju Srivastava

Ace comedian and a extremely  popular Indian celebrity, Raju Srivastava passed away on 21 September 2022 at the age of 58. He suffered a cardiac arrest which further led to his demise.

Arun Bali

Indian veteran actor Arun Bali, died on October 7, 2022at the age of 79.He acted in a large number of movies and TV shows. He was popularly known for his roles like  King Porus in the 1991 historical drama Chanakya, Kunwar Singh in the Doordarshan soap opera Swabhimaan, and Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal, in the contentious and the movie Hey Ram. The talented actor passed away at home in a Mumbai suburb on October 7, 2022, after receiving treatment for myasthenia gravis.

Nipon Goswami
Legendary and Veteran Assamese actor Nipon Goswami died at the age of 80 on October 27 , 2022 at a private hospital in Guwahati. Nipon Goswami, 80, was unwell and was suffering from heart-related issues. Goswami was born in Assam’s Tezpur town. His father Chandradhar Goswami was also a famous actor and his mother Nirupama Goswami a singer . Nipon Goswami was an alumnus of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India. In the year 1957,he debuted in the Assamese cinema as a child artist. The octogenarian worked in a massive number of Assamese films and took active part in mobile theatres, advertisement commercials, and TV soaps. His last rites were performed with  full state honour.

Neel Pawan Baruah

A day after popular Assamese actor Nipon Goswami actor  died due to heart-relate issues, renowned painter Neel Pawan Baruah breathed his last around 3.15 pm on October 28   following a prolonged illness. The eminent artist was 86 years old .Baruah was undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).An alumni of Santiniketan’s Kala Bhawan, Baruah was a versatile artist with his oeuvre ranging from painting, pottery, mask-making and writing poetry. After completing his graduation in fine arts, he learnt glazed pottery at Sriniketan and also had a stint at the Garhi Studio in New Delhi. A prolific writer, Baruah wrote several poems, essays on art and has three books on art to his credit. He was also the husband of Dipalli Borthakur, who was popularly known as the nightingale of Assam.

Sidhhaant Vir Surryavanshi

Sidhhaant Vir Surryavanshi was a popular Indian television actor known specially for his roles in Mamta and Kasautii Zindagii kay. He was loved by his fans and his sudden demise came as a shock for them. He too suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on 11th November 2022 at a  young age of 46.  Before his demise  he had a career  spanning over 21 years.

Superstar Krishna

Superstar and Veteran Telugu actor, Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna died on 15 November 2022. He was the father of South superstar , Mahesh Babu .

Vikram Gokhale

Veteran Bollywood actor, known for his significant  roles in films like Bhool Bhulaiya and Hum Dil De Chuka Sanam. At the age of 77Vikram Gokhale passed away on 26 November 2022.
