According to latest reports, the Centuries-old heritage site –The Ranachandi temple(Maibang Stone House) and park, in Maibang Sub-division of Dima Hasao district, has been beautifully decorated with lights and other decorations in a grand way and will be inaugurated through a grand opening ceremony on January 13 & January 14 .
The initiative to restore the heritage sites and to promote the cultural tourism was taken by North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) .
According to further reports, the two days event will have performance of traditional Dimasa Baidima dance by two thousand women artists with traditional drums and flutes played by five hundred youths on 13th January followed by a documentary film presentation on the history and kingdom of Dimasa’s along with an interactive session on the tradition and culture of Dimasa’s on 14th January.
Images of the beautifully decorated pictures and videos of the temple and park have been making rounds on social media and users have showered their praises and wishes over the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) for their extraordinary initiative to restore the heritage site and for enhancing the tourism potential in the hill district.
In the lead-up to the grand event, NCHAC’s chief executive member Debolal Gorlosa and other officials have been making regular visits to the Ranachandi Temple and Park to ensure that all arrangements are in place. Final touches are being given to the heritage site to set the mood and make the event a grand success.
The NCHAC authority has declared a holiday on January 13 & January 14 for all offices under its administrative control.
It is expected that around 20-30 thousand persons are expected to visit during the two days inaugural ceremony which will have various events and competions including book release, folk singing, quiz, sports competition etc. followed by a cultural night.
With this initiative the area has been enhanced inviting visitors footfall and after this it is expected to open up employment opportunities for the youth.
