Serena Williams has announced her farewell from Tennis after a 27- year professional career. The legendary tennis player and 23-time Grand Slam singles champion holds the most major singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles combined among all active tennis players and is considered to be one of the greatest Tennis players of all time. Serena Williams made her tennis retirement announcement in style with a feature on the cover of Vogue’s September 2022 issue.
She said she will retire after the U.S. Open, which will commence from late August into September. A victory there would tie her with Margaret Court’s Grand Slam record.
“There comes a time in life when we have to decide to move in a different direction. That time is always hard when you love something so much. My goodness do I enjoy tennis. But now, the countdown has begun. I have to focus on being a mom, my spiritual goals and finally discovering a different, but just exciting Serena. I’m gonna relish these next few weeks,” she wrote.
