Bollywood Actress Richa Chadha has triggered criticism over her tweet on Wednesday, 23rd November 2022 in response to Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement that the Indian Army was ready to execute orders like taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Richa’s way of reacting to the statement was unacceptable. After her outrageous tweet with a Galwan taunt, several social media users slammed Richa for daring to mock the Indian Army on the 2020 Galwan clash between India and China, in which many Indian Army soldiers died. She has been aggressively criticized for insulting the Indian Army.
The statement by Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s was made with reference to Defence Minister’s previous address in which he reiterated New Delhi’s resolve to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), saying all refugees would get their land and homes back.
Meanwhile after sensing the damage that she called upon herself , Bollywood actor Richa Chadha later issued an apology statement through a tweet, Richa wrote, “Even though it can never be my intention in the least, if the 3 words which are being dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologise and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part. As a Lt. Col, he took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war, in 1960s. My Mamaji was a paratrooper. It’s in my blood.”
She again added, “A whole family is affected when their son is martyred or even injured while saving the nation which is made up of people like us and I personally know how it feels. It is an emotive issue for me.”
But looking at the after effects of her insensible tweet, it seems to be too late to rectify the damage that she has already done.
Besides a police complaint has been filed against Richa Chadda by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit. Ashok pandit on Thursday, November 24, informed about filing the police complaint on twitter for her outrageous Tweet mocking the Indian Army and martyrs of the Galwan clash. Ashoke Pandit, is the president of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association.
He shared a copy of the police complaint that he filed at the Juhu police station. The complaint read, he would like to file a complaint against actress Richa Chadha for mocking and insulting our security forces, especially who laid down their lives in Galwan valley fighting our enemies.
