Assam police will reopen all cases related to unnatural deaths that happened during the last one year in the state. According to latest reports , Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed all the Superintendents of Police of the respective districts of Assam to reopen cases of unnatural deaths. The SPs of the districts have also been asked to investigate the matter. While addressing the media on Friday at CM’s conference room at the Janata Bhawan, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about this.
While terming the recent incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Dhula of Darrang District which was later declared as suicide , CM Sarma mentioned about how the Special Investigation Team re-examined the entire case.
While addresing the Darrang case as en eye opener CM Sarma urged the people to be vigilant inorder to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Assam Chief Minister further said “Any case which has been claimed to be suicide or any case of accident or murder presented as suicide will be re-visited.”
He also said that the exact number of the cases will be known only after the reports from the districts. He further adds that if anybody wishes then they can seek re-examination of even 15-year-old cases.
