Assamese Chef Gautam Thakuria showcased the northeast cuisine at “The 8 Sisters Meet” event organized at Nehru Centre London . The event which was inaugurated on October 10 and will continue till October 14 was organised by Women of North East Support Network (WNESN) with the support of Indian High Commission in London .
Chef Gautam Thakuria has curated a special menu for the event and he prepared more than 14 unique, flavorful dishes of Northeast cuisine from different parts of this region. Although a majority of items are from Assam, the menu included dishes from neighbouring Nagaland and Manipur as well.
He shared about it through a Facebook Post , “I prepared more than 14 unique, flavorful dishes from different parts of this region and tried to upgrade our cuisine to the next level for platting and global taste buds.”
The event witnessed a widespread of Northeast Cuisines mostly Assamese starting with thekera tenga and pudina mojito as welcome drink, then dalir bor ,alu-koni pitikar logot kon bilahir chutney as starters , then comes the salad which included Robab tenga aru kesa amar salad. The main course included curry and side dishes had with names as Nagamese Lamb stew, Magur masor logot dali (catfish with lentils), kaoi mashor xoite amora tenga(kaoi fish sour curry ), Manipuri Candied black sesame chicken, Paror mankhor jhol(pigeon curry), kolfulor logot xaru guti aloo((banana flower with fried baby potato), Hahor Mankhor logot Kumura(Duck curry with Ash gourd), Mati mahor dali logot outenga (black lentils with elephant apples), poita bhat aru pura garoi mash pitika(fermented rice with roasted mashed Goroi fish) and lastly in deserts Payokh (rice pudding) and poka kolor pitha (ripe banana pancakes) were prepared for the event.
