GUWAHATI 3rd February: Under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North-Eastern Region (MOVCD), Agriculture Department of Assam’s initiative to make Majuli district an the organic hub in Assam said Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon to develop NE region as hub of commercial organic farming and under the visionary of CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma the state has been entering into a new era of growth and development in different sectors including Agri Horti Sector said Bora. He said this while addressing at the Inauguration of the First Expo On Organic North East 2023 organised by SIMFED( Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd.) in collaboration with
Agriculture Department of Assam began on Friday held at Veterinary College Playground, Khanapara.
The Minister further added that, a number of initiatives undertaken by the State Government intend to augment the rural infrastructure with special focus on export oriented Agri Horti Sector. Considering that the NE region continues to focus on traditional agricultural methoda that are vested upon to be natural farming is therefore found to be ideal for production of organic farming.
Expo Organic North East 2023’s vision is to raise national and global awareness of the North Eastern Region as a hotbed of organic and natural products. The event is intended to raise awareness of the potential of organic farming in the northeastern region.
The three day event will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of February 2023 at the Veterinary College Play Ground, Khanapara.
The International Conference & Exhibition for the Organic Sector Focused on the North East will be held at EXPO ONE to share information on organic agriculture, new innovations, potential use of digitization, and new technologies.
A total of 19 states from Across India have participanted in the 1st edition of the Organic Expo North East which includes Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Harayana, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telengana, Odisha and Maharashtra.
A total of 120 stalls and 20 pavillions are participating in the Organic Expo North East.

Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Gagnesh Sharma, Director, National Centre for Organic & Natural Farming, Dr A.K Yadav, Advisor, MOVCD- NER, INM Division, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GOI, Prabin Hazarika, Chairman Assam Seeds Corporation Limited, Manoj Baruah, Chairman Assam Seeds Corporation Limited, Anant Lal Gyani, Director of Agriculture, Assam and other officials of the department were also present.
