Every year on November 19, International Men’s day is observed to honour the presence of the men in our lives and also their achievements and contributions towards different sectors in society.
This year, according to Internationalmensday.com, the theme for 2022 is ‘Helping Men and Boys’.
According to reports , this day was started by Thomas Oaster in February 1992. However, Dr Jerome Teelucksingh, a history lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, founded the International Men’s Day project on November 19, 1999.
The day reminds us to honour every men around us who play different major roles in society. Be it a father, brother, or husband, a friend or a son. International Men’s Day highlights the role of men enabling them to bring forward the issues that they face . It is also said that this day is not just about celebrating men but also it emphasizes on gender relations and promoting gender equality.
This year’s theme for International Men’s Day 2022 is “Helping men and boys”. With this theme t is aimed to celebrate the positive contribution of men to this world, families, and communities and promote their well-being.
