IIT Guwahati receives 164Placement Offers on Day One’s First Two Sessions

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati Campus Placements for the 2023-24 Academic Year began on a robust note today (1st December 2023). A total of 164 offers were made by 59 Companies during Day One’s Sessions 1.1 and 1.2 (ongoing) at IIT Guwahati as against 160 offers made by 46 companies at the end of Session 1.1 and 1.2 during the last Academic Year (2022-23) across Core, Software, Business Analyst job profiles. The figures provided in the release are as on 5:30PM, 1st December 2023.

In addition, IIT Guwahati students have already received as many as 214 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) during the Academic Year 2023-24. Most of the offers were in the sectors of Core Engineering, and Finance profiles.

The Institute has received as many as 11 placement offers above 1 Core package were made so far as compared to 07 offers in 2022-2023.

The big recruiters of this year’s first two Sessions include Google, Microsoft, Bajaj, HPCL, Navi, Piramal, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments among others. Phase I of placements is expected to continue till 15th December 2023 at IIT Guwahati. Session 1.1 of Placements at IIT Guwahati began at around 12 am (midnight) while session 1.2 commenced at around 8 AM. The Final Session of 1.3began at 4 PM and is scheduled to conclude by midnight.

Speaking about this year’s Placement drive, Prof. Lalit Mohan Pandey, Head, Center for Career Development, IIT Guwahati, said, “IIT Guwahati defies global recession by maintaining the steady placement statistics.Through rigorous training, our students have adeptly grasped the intricacies of companies’ requirements, equipping themselves to effectively meet these demands. This process is assisting in fostering a comprehensive understanding on the part of both the employer and potential employee.”

In the 2023-24 Academic Year, a total of 1491 students have registered for placements, across different streams of study.

The total number of companies registered for Phase I of Placements is 262 who will be recruiting for a total of around 422 profiles. More than 50 start-ups have also registered for recruitment in the ongoing academic year along with 07 Public Sector Undertakings.

Expressing his happiness on a strong start to the placement season at IIT Guwahati, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “We are glad to see the participation of huge numbers of recruiters from different sectors enthusiastically hiring the talented pool of IIT Guwahati. The students are encouraged to join the core sectors. I congratulate the selected students and convey my best wishes for the students appearing in the upcoming rounds.”

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, established in 1994, completed 25 years of glorious existence in 2019. At present, the Institute has eleven departments, nine interdisciplinary academic centres and five schools covering all the major engineering, science, healthcare, management, design and humanities disciplines, offering BTech, BDes, BSc(Hons), MA, MDes, MTech, MSc, MS(R), MBA and PhD programmes. IIT Guwahati gained rank 32 globally in the ‘Research Citations per Faculty’ category and overall 364 rank in the QS World University Rankings 2024. In the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, the Institute is ranked 111th in overall category.

Among other frontier areas of research and innovation, IIT Guwahati is working towards augmenting critical research, technology and entrepreneurship initiatives in Genomics, Clean energy, Health Care, AI, Bioinformatics and Flexible Electronics, among numerous other areas.
