The Meghalaya government on Tuesday announced about establishing border outposts (BOPs) in seven sensitive locations identified along the state border with Assam.
This comes as a response after one week of the firing incident at Mukhroh village in West Jaintia Hills district which killed 6 people on November 22.
Meghalaya chief minister , Conrad K. Sangma, made the announcement after chairing a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Chief minister said that the cabinet has officially sanctioned and approved seven BOPs in sensitive areas and upgradaton of police outposts in Patharkhmah and Kyrshai in Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills district.”.
The seven BOPs will be established in Mooriap in East Jaintia Hills; Mukroh and Tiwieh in West Jaintia Hills; Rani (Jirang) in Ri Bhoi; and Umwali, Lejadubi and Langpih in West Khasi Hills.
Cabinet approved the creation of outposts in sensitive locations in Meghalaya along the border areas viz:
1 Mooriap BOP in East Jaintia Hills
2 Mukroh BOP & Tihwieh BOP in West Jaintia Hills
3 Rani-Jirang BOP in Ri-Bhoi

The CM further said about sanctioning and creating the required manpower and infrastructure immediately .
