According to latest reports the Mizoram government has decided to put a ban on the use of firecrackers during the coming festivities of Christmas and New Year.
As per the announcement the Mizoram government’s ban on firecrackers, sky lanterns and other pyrotechnic materials would be in force during the festivities of Christmas and New Year.
Notable Earlier during Diwali celebrations firecrackers and other pyrotechnic materials were also banned.
According to Aizawl Superintendent of Police (SP) C Lalruaia in order to ensure ban on sale and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic materials vigilance will be maintained during the festive season of Christmas and New Year. He says that regular checks will be conducted by the police especially at the market places of Aizawl . Moreover shop owners have been asked to not sell firecrackers, sky lanterns and toy guns and also transporters not to transport such items.
As per reports Mizoram had earlier banned sale and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic materials during festivals to prevent air pollution.
Mizoram will likely be celebrating Christmas and New Year in a grand manner this year, after two years of low key-celebrations due to COVID-19 pandemic.
