Agribusiness company Godrej Agrovet has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Assam, Manipur and Tripura governments for the development and promotion of oil palm cultivation.
As per reports ,under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) scheme lands will be allotted to Godrej Agrovet across Assam, Manipur and Tripura states for the promotion and development of sustainable palm oil plantations in the region .The company has cited that the collaboration will bring new opportunities and growth in building oil palm plantations in these three states thereby will also provide the adequaye support to the farmers.
At present the company have around 65,000 hectares under palm oil cultivation across several states and has an aim to have 1 lakh hectare in the next few years. The range of range of products of the company includes crude palm oil, crude palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake and are produced at its six oil palm mills spread across the country.
